About the Filipino Hub
Celebrating the Filipino spirit in Hong Kong
The Filipino Hub is a community-driven initiative dedicated to celebrating, empowering, and connecting the vibrant Filipino community in Hong Kong. Founded and funded by its co-founders, the platform was born from lived experience, cultural pride, and the belief that representation truly matters.
We shine a spotlight on Filipino business owners, professionals, creatives, and changemakers — the often-overlooked “invisible migrants” whose contributions extend far beyond the limited stereotypes often associated with our community. Through visibility, narrative-shifting, and connection, we aim to redefine how Filipinos are seen in Hong Kong: not just as the city’s largest ethnic minority, but as a dynamic force shaping its multicultural identity.

Our Vision
In the next 3–5 years, The Filipino Hub envisions a thriving ecosystem of Filipino-led and Filipino-friendly businesses, and a deeply connected network of Filipino-Hong Kong professionals who challenge stereotypes, build meaningful collaborations, and contribute confidently to Hong Kong’s social and economic landscape.
We define success as stronger visibility and representation for the “invisible migrants” and improved integration into Hong Kong society for both new and long-established Filipino residents.

Our Founders
Candice Tomale – Co-Founder
Community advocate, entrepreneur, and creative director, Candice is a long-term Filipino permanent resident of Hong Kong whose life journey shaped the foundation of The Filipino Hub. Growing up, she often felt Filipino identity was reduced to a checkbox — lacking a true sense of belonging or visible representation. It wasn’t until her university years in Seattle, through the Filipino American Student Association at the University of Washington, that she experienced the strength of a united, culturally rooted Filipino community.
Returning to Hong Kong in 2014 from the US, she struggled to find a space that reflected the diversity of Filipinos beyond the traditional OFW narrative. Her leadership roles in Section Juan and later volunteer work with IAT (International Association for Transformation, a child sponsorship and community nonprofit) deepened her commitment to community-building. Throughout the years, an idea of having a digital platform that helped the Filipino community in Hong Kong emerged. Finally in 2025, after a big push from her partner, Parvesh, this drive evolved into a clear vision: a platform that uplifts Filipino businesses, professionals, and stories — The Filipino Hub.
Candice leads platform design, community outreach, and social media, shaping the project’s voice, identity, and cultural narrative.
Parvesh Shamdasani – Co-Founder
Born and raised in Hong Kong, Parvesh is a community advocate, entrepreneur, and AML consultant whose work has consistently supported ethnic and underserved communities behind the scenes. As both Candice’s life partner and creative collaborator, his involvement goes far beyond personal support — he plays a strategic role in transforming vision into reality.
Parvesh initiated and guided the technical creation of The Filipino Hub, overseeing platform development, project strategy, and administrative foundations. His approach blends practical execution with a deep respect for cultural representation, equity, and long-term impact.
Together with Candice, Parvesh ensures the platform is both emotionally grounded and operationally sustainable.
